Hi, I’m Jackie and I’ve always been interested in “witchy things.”

I got my first tarot deck from a teen magazine. I carefully ripped all the cards apart, stored them in a magic pouch in the back of my closet so my parents wouldn’t find them and I never looked at them again, even though I thought about them all the time. I did my best to resist the magic they held.

In reality, it was the magic that was inside me begging to be seen and to be let out that I ignored for so long. I held it deep down where no one could see it and it would bubble out occasionally if someone else brought it up first. Even then, it felt scary and even dangerous to be talking about.

I’ve been very slow to come out of the broom closet. As I started to wade into unknown magical waters, I noticed that my friends would take me aside and whisper, “I want to do that, too.”

So I decided to start URBeginnerWitch because I wanted a safe place to explore all the different sides of the magical universe. By sharing my stories and adventures, I hope that emboldens others to join me outside the broom closet and into the light of the moon.

Now, URBeginnerWitch is turning ONE! It has been a really fun year of adventures and most importantly, full of magic. Thank you for your support over this past year. I’m only getting warmed up. I promise more magic to come and I hope you’ll join me!
